7th boat trip (Ah Soon – Changi)

Went Boating with Calvin, KPO, Weng Hoe and friends, Phua.

It was a wet trip raining whole day none stop but it never stop the anglers from the trip.

Calvin came and pick me up at 645 together with KPO and Ah Hoe which he fetch from Yew Tee on the way to my house. Parked the car at the beach car park and make our way through the rain to the market. Meet with 2 enthu anglers at the market for our breakfast and buy all the accessories for the trip including tidbit and drink.



It was a wet day indeed. Changed a few spot with no bite at all. Then suddenly Connie caught the first fish of the day, a small grouper. Follow by Ah Soon Gu Huud. Calvin and Simon(Hoe's Friend) both caught a small sotong as well... using size 1/0-2/0 hook on live prawn. Another Hoe friend caught a ah seng but he released it.



All was slow moving then suddenly, I saw my rod took a u bend. Went to grab my rod...pump my rod and ... strike... FISH ON... Line went out all the way... i wanted to reel in the line but was not possible.. it was until a while later .... after a few pump.. i am able to reel in... the fish was strong... was letting it run for a few times and reeling in.. i managed to see a shining body... A QUEENIE.. YES.. Ah Soon came and want to scope the fish up using net but was unable to do so ... COZ some one line was in the way... Strange... SImon was brave enough to lie down by the boat side and lip grip the fish... To my surprise... after the fish came up.. Up came A full set fishing ROD... HUH???!!!??? wat happen... ??? until then I know that actually Phua rod was pull down by the fish when it entangle his line... I think he will be very sad if the set is really gone ... HENG AR.!!!!

After that not much action .. change to the known Chor Beng Spot.. Calvin manage to pull one up..

Ah Hoe also manage to foul hook a stingray... KPO still thinking that she caught the ray initally as her line also got entangled in the process.

6th boat trip (pulau Tinggi)

Pulau Tinggi here I come. We fishing with a few kakis. Below are the pictures. I even caught a 3.4KG ang gao

5th Boat trip (George – Punggol)

I booked this boatman's boat at around end april for 23 may(sun). As the date get nearer, I give ZAINOL a call on 17 may(mon) for all the detail including where to meet, where to get the prawns and what time we will reach back to mainland. He told me that the I jus call him around 8 so that he can confirm with me whether to board at changi or the yacht club there.

There come the day. All our gear is ready. 2kg of Prawn is bought. After having breakfast at changi village. Around 750AM, I give him a call. The guy didnt pick up. I was still thinking that he maybe driving his boat and may not be able to pick up. 815AM called again no pick up. I keeps calling for more than 30 time using different no. still no pick up.

Call until 9AM. Finally give up. decide to go to the yacht club to try looking for him. Once there, We asked a few uncle there if they know him. To our surpise, they told us that HE HAS LEFT with another group.

No choice head to punggol to see if can get any other boat man. Was lucky and managed to get GEORGE. Although Charges are higher than change side. The service was really good. Even include meal. Will board this trip again.

4th boat trip(Ah Hui - Punggol)

Didn’t get much hook up as maybe the prawn we are trying(from Sheng Siong) is not appealing to the fished.

3rd boat trip Welcome aboard more addicted anglers (Ah Soon – Changi)

I was trying to influence my friend into fishing. Bought them to a boat trip and they are addicted.

My first Baitcaster

ABU ambassadeur 7000ICS pro Rocket.
Bought a used reel from fishingkaki.com from a steady angeler(Remy). Bought the reel for $150 including line.

2nd Boat Trip(Kee Siong – Changi)

After the first boat trip, we went for another which is from Changi. Trip was okie.
Here are the result.

First Boat Trip.

Desmond called and told me that he was going for a boat trip. So I joined them. It was my first boat trip. Anyway also managed to find out that my sec school friend is into fishing so jio him along. Trip was to Pulau Tinggi. Didn’t manage to get any photo. Wait till next trip then.

A surprise trip

Went fishing with Collin at kranji and as he need to leave early to attend his niece bday party at Pasir Ris. We went to kranji for a short moment with no action at all. No choice but to pack up and maybe head to Pasir Ris for a 2nd round if time permits. Went for the party for a while and off we go to Changi beach to try our luck since there is still live prawn left. Called Roymond and he was in downtown east so he came to join us for a while.

Raymond came with his family. I passed him one of my rod to cast as he didn’t brought any along. Around maybe 15mins later, his son went to reel up the line. But to his surprise, it was struck.

Uncle Collin uncle collin sangko liao. But collin don’t care so no choice I help him. Upon lifting andjerking a few time, it came loose. But to my surprise it was pulling as well. Told collin that there is a fish at the end of the line but he don’t bother as if I was lying to him. He only knew it when it was creating a splash at the surface.

A new found angler

Collin juz came back from China and I discovered that he is into fishing. Went fishing with him and his friend Raymond for quite a few trip and below are what we have landed.

Other misc Trip.

Went back to pulau ubin a few time but stay in chalet instead of tent. Caught 2 groupa, a parrot and not much.

First Pulau Ubin Trip

Went to Kranji for a few times without any result. Then went on to try our luck at Pulau Ubin. It was my virgin trip fishing on the island and was Fabian trip after so long. We took the ferry from Changi and off we go. Once reached the island. Luck was on our side. We meet a “taxi” driver whom we called Siao Teck. Then he recommend us a spot which he call the BIG ROCK. He say that side best already. High tide and low tide also can catch. Off we go. Reach the site where the car can bring us to and follow his instruction till we reach the BIG ROCK. Setup our gear and tent as we are preparing to camp over night there. Managed to hook up 2 Gu Huud.

By the way, half way through the night, it started raining. Raining on the island was no joke. The wind is so strong.

The next day Siao teck came pick us up. Went to the jetty .. took ferry.. and went home…

Starts to know more

Okie ... Now is where i start to learn more abt fishing... Fabian brought me to fish.... During my earlier fishing with him... I was using his tackle... coz i totally forgotten abt mine when bought when i was a kid... It was only after a few time later then i ask my mum ...

Me: Hey where is the rod we bough last time when we go kranji...???
Mum: Oh rod ar... I dunno got give friend or not.. you go look in the store room.. have mean have dun have mean dun have...
Me: Huh??? *fainted*

But anyway ... found the 2rod and the2 reel in the store room... Brought to fabain for checking to see if its usable...

Me: This two can use??
Fabian: (after testing the reel) Bei shai la... the tension wan come out cannot come out like tat...
Me: Bo Bian buy new reel loh...

One fine day went changi ... bought 2 reel to pair with my 2 existing rod...

in the pic in the 1st post... That is where i got my first fish... a "zhao ming".. Although we been there a lot of time... We didnt manage to get any fish.. For me is juz to go and relax...

Poly / Army Days fishing???

Back Again ... Back to the story... the next time that i know of or can rem is maybe when it is during my army days already. Can't rem when ... My campmate(Chee Gee AKS 一支) bring me to fish... erm..... at a restricted place... erm.... okok la... a reservior la... and even uses gold fish as bait.. I know nuts abt fishing then hahah... juz follow.. bought one telescopic rod at Chong pang... then anyhow tie.the dead knots and off we go ... jus for the cake of it.. hahaha... After that I even brought my sec school friend there to fish ... In the end caught by ranger...

Picking up fishing

Wow... Came acress this photo some time back but lost the file. Lucky I have added it into my facebook photo and that is why I am still post it here. Actually this is the first fish I've caught that caused me to be hooked on fishing. This photo was taken so long back that i think my friend took this photo using ... ermmmm..... Nokia 7610??? Watever ... who cares... hahaha... This sport was first intro to me when erm.... i was small...ard primary4??? My mum took me to Kranji.,, (hey thats the same palce i caught my first fish) ..hahaha ..Coincidence??? Maybe .. haha or the fish is waiting for me there... Okie back to the history... At first my mum plus me and my sis was there to dig for "sea hum"... dig and dig ... somemore mus wait for low tide then can go .. after digging.. normally we will walk to the reservior side to take a rest... We went there for alot of time.. until one fine day... we went there to rest to see a few uncles in action.. they are fishing for "siam luei" and even caught 3-4 pieces if i rem correctly... They even gives us 1 peice to take home... Wats special is that after taking the fish home.. at night .. the fish is still alive.. anyway u know kids la.... wat pple play they also wan to play.. then that is how i got my first rod... hey is 2 rod.... coz u know why coz if not me and my sis will snatch ma.. tats y... we went to the tackle shop.. forgotten at where to get my first set... it was a 7and 3/4 height with a reel whcih i forget wats the brand. my sis got a 6 feet rod with a spinner reel as well...didnt manage to get any fish with the rodsssss then .. and maybe its the last time i saw the rod in ard 10 yrs time....
